October 8, 2013: London! We have exactly 24 hours here.. landed at 8:35am and we leave for Rome at 8:35 tomorrow! Got our luggage, went to the airport hotel and crashed for about 2 hours after breakfast.  7 hours seems like a lot of opportunity to sleep for a flight… but they didn’t start serving dinner until 90 minutes in due to turbulence, shut the cabin lights off 3 hours into the flight… and turned them back on 90 minutes prior to arrival to serve breakfast.  So that only left 2.5 hours of ‘lights out’.  Also, Emelyn had night terrors on the flight since she didn’t get a nap the day before so that was tough on her.  We decided it would be best to get the girls some sleep before we hit the city, so we postponed sightseeing to the afternoon!

We hit the Tube to Trafalgar Square, ate lunch at Cafe in the Crypt (creepy!) and then grabbed a double decker sightseeing bus, which was a great way to quickly see some of the sights. We jumped on the London Eye for an aerial view of the city at dusk and then headed back to the airport.  My mate Glenn from Australia and his fiance Lynley live in London so we got dinner with them, which was an absolute blast! Always good to see familiar faces while traveling. It truly makes the world seem so small!
