I T'd it today. 4,600 miles.

March 27, 2012:  Rule #1 of mileage runs = they never go right. :)   5am wakeup call, was scheduled to fly IND-ORD-SFO, quick 90 minute layover and In-N-Out Burger run, then back to ORD and in to Albany, NY by 9pm.

Landed at SFO, lost about 15 minutes on the runway taxi, threw a cab driver $30 to make the 4 mile roundtrip to the nearest In-N-Out for me, and as I got back through security…. delayed.

My 55 minute layover in Chicago turned in to 3 minutes by the time we landed.  Missed my ORD-ALB flight and got rebooked on ORD-BDL.  Landed at 11pm, rented a car and drove to Albany and rolled in around 1:30am.

21 hour day.
12 hours of flying.
3 hours of layovers.
2 movies watched.
1 book read.
1 awesome double-double, animal style, with fries and a sweet tea.

Success.

March 25, 2012:  I mentioned a month ago that I was looking forward to entering the tournament as a dark horse. Well, we did :)  Entered the tournament as a #6 seed, and after knocking off the #11, #3, and #2 seeds we were in the championship yesterday.  We finished 2nd place in the league, with an 8-4 record on the year.  What a fun season with the guys, glad we played together.

That was a long 23 hour day.

March 14, 2012: Today was the start of a quick mileage run, but weather in SFO messed my plans up.  After working in NYC in the AM, I stopped by the Freedom Tower to see the progress.  I was supposed to fly to SFO and then back to EWR overnight, but a 2+ hour delay pushed me past any outbound flight from SFO. So I crashed there and caught an AM flight to ORD. Still got some miles out of the westbound-eastbound, but had to cancel my EWR-BOS-DCA-ORD portion. 

March 13, 2012: I was just complaining to Jen that Doritos were $4.29. So she found a $1 off coupon AND a BOGO sale. 2 bags for $3.29. Love her thriftiness. :)

March 12, 2012: Jen’s birthday is today! We went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch, took an evening walk with Em and Bella, and then went over to the Genesis Carmel campus to do some work with our small group. I snuck over in the AM to decorate and drop a cake off so we could celebrate Jen’s bday tonight.  Scheduling a service project on the night of your birthday, just another reason why I love my wife and her heart for others!

March 11, 2012: Qdoba with the Knuths and Sprinkles between bball games. Won by 2 at our 5:30 game, then advanced again after another close win at our 9:30pm game. Jimmy said it best: “All I know is that we’re all gonna feel like we’re 90-year old men tomorrow when we try to walk.”

March 10, 2012: Just had a great weekend getaway to Story, Indiana. It’s such a neat place, anyone in the area should go at some point! (http://storyinn.com) The proprietors have purchased nearly all of the houses from this town, established 1851, and turned it into a neat bed/breakfast on the south side of Brown County State Park. There is a fantastic restaurant at the general store (above) and they grow a lot of their herbs/ingredients right behind!

We’ve been 5 times now and are always ready for the next getaway.  With the fun shopping and arts in Nashville, IN and the Edinburgh Outlet Mall just a few miles up the interstate, it’s a quick, fun getaway an hour from Indy!

Plus….. my cell phone doesn’t work in Story. Perfect. :)
