July 31, 2012: From Boston to Albany! Got to have breakfast with ScottyHendo and see MassChallenge, an accelerator in the Innovation District. Always good to see him. After wrapping up things at EduWeb and grabbing some lunch at an Indian place, I headed towards Albany. A quick stop at WPI in Worcester to see Adam, and got to ride the Segway a bit. No crashes! Ended the day in Albany with a delicious supper with the fine folks of Siena, and capped things off with an amazing root beer float.
July 30, 2012: Caught the 6am flight in to Boston for the EduWeb conference. Got to have lunch with Tim and be a part of consecutive day #666 of his beer/running streak. I gave my conference presentation in the afternoon, and it seems to have gone well. Afterwards I met up with Howard and we hit up some delicious food (Gaslight) and a bar called Drink, which was really cool. Stopped by to see Howard’s office on the way back to the hotel, and ran into some other higher ed rockstars on the way. Good to be at a conference and see everyone!
July 29, 2012: 6th Anniversary! I’m very thankful for my wife and the nearly 10 years we’ve known each other! She continues to amaze me each day. After seeing most of our small group at church, we were able to go out tonight and celebrate our big day.
Jen wanted to go to Jo Ann Fabrics without any distractions (Em!) and shop for some craft stuff. So we did that, and then headed to Korean BBQ for dinner. I stopped by to set up our dessert earlier in the day with our waitress, so we had delicious chocolate covered strawberries to cap the night.
I hope we have 60 years together. :)
July 28, 2012: We picked up our 1/4 cow today and got it organized in the deep freeze! Came out to $3.99/lb for grass-fed beef, no pesticides, hormones, etc. Pretty cool. Em decided that she was going to support New Zealand today when she picked out her shirt and hairbow. And for dinner, we were treated to a phenomenal authentic mexican dinner. Enchiladas, beans, cactus, horchata to drink. Amazing!
July 27, 2012: After 3 months without cable, we hooked up an antenna to watch the Olympics! Tonight I went out with Cameron, Isaac, Rudy, Andrew and Justin. Good to have some guy time! Great food and drinks, shuffleboard, and opening ceremony. Isaac and Andrew won a shirt for conquering the Hermanaki Burger. Nice!
July 26, 2012: Started the day in South Carolina at Winthrop University, which is a beautiful campus! I love visiting here. Very southern. After work I drove back up to Charlotte to fly home, and popped in the Aviation Museum to check out the US Airways Flight 1549. Also got to check out the cockpit of an F-4. Wrapped up the day with some sushi, and home sweet home by midnight.
July 24, 2012: Crossed over to Ohio and was promptly greeted by a downpour. Was not able to take a magazine into the library restroom, but I DID score a sweet pair of OWU wayfarers. Finished up the night with fajitas. Talked to Jen tonight, who told me to “enjoy the silence.” And with that, I’m calling it a night at 9pm. :)
