June 30, 2012: What a day! We decided to pack up and go back to Illinois to get out of the house heat.  On the way, we ran in to Jen’s uncle and cousins, who were driving from Cincinnati to the IN/IL border to pick up their youngest brother, who was staying with Jen’s grandparents in IL for the week.

We pulled in to the Beef House (which earns its name, see above) and chatted for a bit in the parking lot.  The cousins had a great time hanging out with each other, and it was good to see Jen’s uncle and grandparents.  So we hopped back in the car and continued the 5 hour journey home.

Once there, it was pizza time of course :) The restaurant was closed because of the Schuyler County Fair, so we had the place to ourselves!  Em enjoyed making (eating) pizza, and we had salad and cheese stix.   And we got to see a beautiful sunset to cap off the day.

June 29, 2012:  Some screen porch watermelon eatin’ today, followed up with games and dessert at J&J’s.  Jordi and I won euchre, somehow. I just throw down cards and hope I did it right.  But we dominated.

June 28, 2012: So hot.  Coming up on 3 weeks without A/C.  99-100F in the house, so we retreated to the basement for the day… so I hooked up the SEGA and won a Sega Bowl Championship on Joe Montana Football.  So all in all, a pretty good day. :)

June 26, 2012: Jen’s pregnant!!!! :)  We held the news until we knew the gender for baby #2 so we could just make 1 announcement.  Boy or girl?  Take a guess… :)

June 24, 2012: The conference was over by lunchtime today, so we went straight to the pool, ordered some food and drinks and hopped in.  It felt GREAT!  Just a wonderful day of relaxing and hanging out with my best friend.  We’re pretty darn excited to get back to our little girl tomorrow AM though.  4:00am wakeup call? Not so much.

June 23, 2012: Another scorcher in AZ! The heat is unreal.  We were inside for most of the day, because we’re here for the Weekend to Remember conference.  It’s been terrific so far, we’re really enjoying the sessions and reaffirming our commitment to each other. I’d highly recommend this conference for any couple, engaged or married! They have 100+ a year all over the country, check it out.

Tonight was ‘date night’, so we made reservations at BLT Steak and had a great time. I had a delicious 35 day dry-aged ribeye covered in morel mushrooms (yum!) and a delicious red wine to go with it. (As well as a phenomenal Woodford Reserve mint julep!)  Jen’s filet was also perfection. We also met some neat people, Tom and Jonette, who took a few pictures for us and gave us great encouragement as a couple.

I sure do love my wife :)

June 22, 2012: Arizona or bust! Kissed the little one goodbye, threw our bags in the car and hopped an early flight to Phoenix. We arrived around 1pm and went straight to the spa, where Jen enjoyed a massage. I enjoyed the saltwater pool, LiveStrong exercise bike (holy moly!) and the steam/sauna rooms.  Nice start to the weekend!  Our room wasn’t ready so we upgraded into a suite, which would have been great if Em was with us!
We had our first conference sessions that wrapped up at 9:30pm (12:30am home time), so we were pretty much exhausted by then.  But… we thought we were only 2 hours behind, so we went to the bar for our daily free drinks and by the time we got to bed it had been a 20+ hour day for us.  We slept great!

June 21, 2012: Checking out the new “shooooos” that “Mamo” brought her. I think they’re going to have a pretty good time this weekend. :)

June 20, 2012: Zoo Day! We are dedicating 1 morning a month to using our Zoo membership, and it’s fun to watch Em get more interested in the animals each time!
