August 31, 2011: I went diving off the coast of Vanuatu this AM. The dive sites were great, one was called “The Cathedral”, which was about 70-80’ deep with rays of sunlight coming from the cracks in the rock walls above. THEN…. rumblerumblegrinnndddddddrumble… an earthquake!! We could hear the earth moving and grinding. It was unreal. A 5.0 magnitude about 40 miles from where we were, and we could hear it that loudly. That’s definitely one dive experience I’ll never forget!

August 30, 2011: A few things you need to know about Vanuatu.
- It’s situated on a fault line, and we’ve already felt 3 earthquakes! One as I got these pictures ready, a 5.3 magnitude. There’s also been a 5.0 and 5.1. But life moves on, no CNN breaking news interviews. In fact, we don’t even have a TV or phone here on the island. That’s awesome :)
- They are amazed to meet Americans, who are very rare to visit here. So you should come.
- It’s been named the “Happiest Place on Earth”.
- It’s home to one of the last primitive cultures, which has just been archived via 3D video.
- It’s been 6 hours, and it’s already one of the best places I’ve traveled to. The people, the food, the culture, the atmosphere, everything!! We could stay here for a few more weeks :)

August 29, 2011: Pictures can’t come close to doing today justice. Wow, wow, wow. Our day trip to New Zealand was almost sidelined by a 4 hour mechanical delay out of Fiji. We arrived to our hotel at 2am today and were on the road at 8am to see NZ. We hopped in the car and spent 8 hours driving the countryside and just enjoying the peacefulness, curvy roads and scenery. We stopped by the Agrodome for the Sheep Show (it was great!), went to Wai-O-Tapu to see the ‘geothermal wonderland’ (pics can’t do justice, simply amazing) and then ended the day at the Waitomo Glowworm Caves (easily one of the top 5 coolest things I’ve seen in life. No pics allowed, pic above from their site! As seen on Planet Earth.)
All in all, an amazing day. Oh, and we finished with supper at McD’s, where I had a Kiwiburger, a Kiwi Pav, and a Lemon & Paeroa to drink. All items I can’t get back home, which makes a stop at McDonald’s allowable when traveling internationally. :)
Next stop: Port Vila, Vanuatu!
August 28, 2011: Last day in Fiji. Hung around the pool, Em is a big hit with all the Aussie and Kiwi kids :)

August 27, 2011: WOW. Fiji is amazing. Had a great time diving this AM, and the weather is perfect. One more day in Fiji tomorrow, then off to New Zealand!
August 26, 2011: We’re here! We left the house at 11am Wednesday and landed in Nadi, Fiji at 6pm Friday, got to the hotel about 7:30pm (3:30am Friday at home). It’s good to finally be here :)

August 25, 2011: We made it to Sydney! Next stop, Fiji! Em was an absolute champion on the 15 hour flight from LA. Whoo hoo!

August 24, 2011: Surprised Jen with a limo ride to the airport to kick off our 5th anniversary vacation. It’s been a roller coaster since, but we’re almost to LA and then we’re on our way to Fiji from there. We’ll ‘miss’ August 25 due to the time change.
